Surplus projects

Cropdrop

CropDrop coordinates the redistribution of fruit and vegetables from bountiful allotments and growers to charitable or community projects that provide food, alleviating food poverty across Bath & North East Somerset. Cropdrop links projects within the same area of the city or town, helping strengthen communities and minimise the food miles of the produce. Cropdrop workers have knowledge of the needs of affordable food and other community projects in the region, so they can find a good home for your surplus.

Ciderspace

Ciderspace is an exciting offshoot of Orchardshare. Apples harvested from local orchards, including those managed by Orchardshare, are juiced by hydropress for the production of apple juice for pasteurisation in bottles and cidermaking. This service is aimed at owners of small orchards with fruit surplus to requirement.

Avon Gleaning

The Avon Gleaning Network works primarily with farms around Avon and Somerset to harvest surplus vegetables and fruit from fields that would otherwise go to waste. The crops are redistributed to charitable food projects who are supporting people experiencing food insecurity. They can find a home for any amount of produce from farms, growers, allotments, orchards, gardens or other organisations.
